The Cingular “Raising the Bar” campaign incorporates the “5-bar signal-strength” visual as a key element of the advertising and shows how it is an integrated part of everyday life. Consumers found these visuals to be fun and playful. In fact, the response was so great, we decided to give customers a chance to send in photographs of their own 5-bar signals for a chance to win $50,000. Submissions were posted online and people were given the chance to vote for the winner. Entries received ranged from 5 bars made of asparagus, to five tan lines, five cats, five tornados and almost anything else under the sun.
